Today we worked with jpg files and creating our website and getting it to work properly. We got to choose our background color and play around with different things we could add to our web page.

What is the actual location of the mypage.html file using a full Windows pathname?

It is on the floppy disk in drive A

Why do the ‘slashes’ go in different directions in when looking at the index.html file from Windows/DOS and the from the localhost?

When using or dealing with Microsoft the slash is a backwards slash ( \ )and when using internet the slash is forward ( / )

At what point in the Windows directory structure does the Web site use as its top level or root point and how was this set?

It was set at the Beginning before you start your computer you do that on either floppy or if no floppy is available then it would save in the hard drive.

What are other differences have you noticed between looking at a web page from a browser pointed to a local DOS location and an actual web browser.

When you open a DOS the file is in a Microsoft or word pad and when you open it in a web browser other people can see it from their computer if they get the ip address.

Find and modify the mypage.html file to show to replace the words “Your Name Plural” with your actual name.

Journal 10-20-09

Today i was experiencing with the internet directory. I opened a file in the internet address bar. I had my file in drive A and i opened the file in the internet using the name of it. I used Run today and it helped me understand how paths work, and how i can trace a certain data. The slash / is for internet and the \ slash is for Microsoft and other word documents and files. With the command prompt if you type ipconfig it will give you info over your computer and with that you get the ip address and can open a internet file on any computer using the internet.

Today i created a directory and i named it block7 i also made two separate ones and they were teachers and students. By using the command mkdir i made my directory. I also learned how to redirect echo. I used the file myfile.txt and this file can be open in any word document and or word pad. To erase a command i simply typed rmdir. I also looked at the stuff i made today in my computer and saw everything in the window.
